The importance of self image and its affect on how you feel about yourself is illustrated in this video.
Who Are Your Models?
Your Self Esteem is a reflection of what you think and feel about yourself. Your Body Image is about how you see yourself and how you believe others see you. Your Body Image is directly connected to your Self Esteem. When you feel good about your body and have a positive body image your Self Esteem is high; when you are negative, critical and judgmental of how you look you suffer from low self esteem.
There are specific activities you can do to change how you see yourself which will have a positive effect on your self esteem. All the activities start with a choice to:
Be your body’s friend and supporter, not its enemy.
Once you make this choice you can begin to focus your attention on what you appreciate and are grateful for about your body, in your thoughts, words and behaviors.
